In the current issue of “Mini & Me Instyle”, our two educators Sonja and Payton tell us about the techniques they use to ensure relaxation and calm in the hustle and bustle of everyday life at the daycare centre.
Sonja is a state-certified educator and has a wonderful method for taming her group. She uses the children’s imagination and swears by petting stories. For this, one of the children lies down on the floor while the other gently strokes his back. Meanwhile, the relaxing sounds of nature are used and everyone together imitates the weather – from light rain to gentle wind. After this fantasy journey, everyone is calm and balanced.
Payton, Early Childhood Educator, is a firm believer in using classical music to relax her lively offspring. She doesn’t just play classical music pieces in her group rooms. Meanwhile, the children draw how the orchestra makes them feel and how it makes them feel. Afterwards, each child shows and explains his or her drawing to the others. Through this exercise, children can more easily transform their natural urge to move into a relaxed and calm mood.
